How my journey began
I’m Jana’e Michelle, Fitness Influencer and Chef. Helping people get fit and live their best lives is very important because I know what it feels like to want to change but feel stuck. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes, high cholesterol and was having my heart monitored due to complications. To top is all off, I was a my heaviest weight of 391 pounds and severely depressed. I needed to make a serious change.
A few months later, I started the journey of living better. I started by simply walking on the treadmill, cutting down my food portions and drink more water. Everyday felt like an uphill battle, but I stayed consistent. Even on the days where I didn’t want to walk, I got up and went to the gym. After a while, things got a little easier and the gym became my release. I started enjoying the rush of a good workout and I started seeing results. After months of just walking, I started incorporating weightlifting which helped to shape my body, burn fat and everyday I felt a little stronger.
For about 6 months of my journey, I worked out with a trainer, this is where I really got the foundation of working out. I learned about form, proper weightlifting techniques and structuring my workouts. After the 6 months, I started working out on my own, using the books I’ve read, YouTube videos, my training methods and the Instagram fitness community as my inspiration. I continued to see the weight drop and my health get better.
Now that the gyms are closed, I started working out at home and creating routines that are low impact and high intensity and it started to resonate with people all of the world. Eventually, I started offering an online virtual course, posted my workout motivation videos daily and started created meal plans for individuals looking to change their lives.
This leads us to today. I’m excited that we’ve created a community of people who encourage and motivate each other everyday. We offer virtual workouts during the week and a free Sunday workout in Long Beach, CA at the beach. Bringing people together that are focused on living a healthy lifestyle encourages all of us to push through on our own individual journey. And it all started with one step on the treadmill.
